FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2025 31 Safety Committee SAFETY 4 "ALL" SEASONS Bicycle safety is a continuing concern for residents. Whether riding a pedal bike or electric bike, the following reminders are provided for your safety. Bicycle Safety Tips • Check or inspect the bicycle to ensure that: • All moving parts are clean and lubricated. • e brakes are functioning properly. • e tires are in good condition, not worn or under inated. • e handlebars are not loose or out of alignment. • Front and rear lights are operational. • Do not operate the bicycle if it is not in good condition. • Wear clothing that will limit the possibility of becoming entangled in the wheels, chain, or gears. If necessary, use clips or rubber bands to keep long pants out of the chain. • Obey all the rules of the road. • Obey all trac signs and pavement markings. • Keep both hands on the handlebars while riding the bicycle. • Do not carry packages or supplies that would obstruct your vision or might limit control of the bicycle. Keep packages in a luggage carrier. • Do not drink coee or other beverages while riding the bicycle. • Do not use phones or handheld devices while riding a bicycle. • Avoid standing water, potholes, bumps, loose gravel or sand, and metal or diamond plate vault covers. • Cross curb cutouts or hoses at a right angle or perpendicular to the conguration of the hazard. • Constantly be aware of pedestrian or vehicle trac. Be especially alert for pedestrians stepping into trac lanes. • Make yourself visible as much as possible at night or when riding a bicycle in rain or fog. If the bicycle does not have a light or reective materials on it, it is advisable to wear light colored clothing or a reective vest. It is advisable to: • Install front and rear lights on your bicycle to make yourself visible to cars, trucks, and pedestrians. • Wear eye protection (prescription eyeglasses or safety eyeglasses) while riding the bicycle to prevent foreign objects (dust, insects) from entering your eyes. • Wear a bicycle helmet while riding the bicycle. Riding bicycles on any of the Four Seasons trails is not allowed. As an added safety reminder … Unsafe driving is a common concern and theme brought up by residents. Here are a few reminders to help keep our community safe. • 25 miles per hour is the maximum speed limit on roadways within our residential districts. • 30 miles per hour is the maximum speed limit on Four Seasons Circle. • 15 miles per hour is the maximum speed limit in alleyways. Remember, parking in alleyways is prohibited. We need to maintain access for emergency response vehicles. • Stop at all designated STOP signs. • Yield to vehicles that have entered a roundabout. When entering a roundabout, only drive in a counterclockwise direction! • No distracted driving! Put away your cell phones and other electronic devices while driving. • Yield to pedestrians. Note to drivers: It is important to follow prudent driving practices. Although our streets are not marked with center lines, please avoid driving down the center of our roadways, staying on the right side of the street. For our pedestrians: While walking, be mindful of vehicle trac on the streets and stay on the sidewalks whenever possible. If you need to walk in the street, always walk facing the opposing trac, and if you are in a group, walk single le. Remember, "If you see something, say something." CPR / AED CLASSES: Monthly CPR Sunday classes are not currently being scheduled.
