FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2025 51 This month's article addresses an important issue related to being residents of Four Seasons. The Famous LGBT Americans series will resume in June. For the residents of Four Seasons, the initial appeal of the community was very likely related to its beauty. Seeing the splendor and the magnificence of nature throughout the development for the very first time was probably a very strong inducement to wanting to relocate here. Learning of the many amenities that the community offered may have provided an additional incentive, including the hiking trails of the Conservancy, the Bistro, the gyms, the theater and the many clubs and groups that offered opportunities for pursuing existing hobbies and interests and exploring new ones. Upon moving here, the friendliness of neighbors and other residents likely reinforced the belief that the decision to move to Four Seasons was a good one. Four Seasons has become for many a community where all can enjoy their retirement years in the company of good friends of many diverse backgrounds. That being said, we are sorry to have to share with you that recently some members of the Rainbow Group have been targets of hateful language and behavior by others of the community at Four Seasons. The perpetrators of these incidents also made it clear that these individuals were being targeted specifically because of their sexual orientation. We recognize that the individuals who committed these hateful behaviors are the exception at Four Seasons and do not ref lect the overwhelmingly positive experiences that Rainbow Group members have had living at Four Seasons. Nonetheless, we thought it important to bring this unfortunate information to your attention. If you experience any hateful behavior or language directed at you for any reason, in particular because of your gender, race, religion, sexual identity, gender expression, political beliefs or other personal characteristic, you should do the following: • Do not escalate the incident by responding in a negative manner • If you feel threatened, contact the Beaumont Police Department as soon as possible • Try to recall a detailed and accurate description of the perpetrator and of the incident • Inform Four Seasons' management of the occurrence All residents of Four Seasons deserve to be treated with respect by others at all times, regardless of how they personally identify. Information on the locations and times of our upcoming events are available via our Facebook page or email (rainbowgroup@ myyahoo.com). ~ Dan Hazeltine and Frank Galvan Rainbow Group
