28 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2025
Social Committee
Welcome to our new member,
Thelma Towner. She was born and
grew up in Los Angeles, California.
Her first job was working part
time for Bank of America as a data
processing clerk in her senior year,
one day a week on Sundays only.
After graduating high school, she
got a job for the summer at Gibson,
Dunn & Crutcher Law Firm as a
messenger.
From there, she went to work
for Security Pacific Bank also
as a data processing clerk, while
attending college at California
State University, Los Angeles. Just shy of getting her AA degree, she
heard The Gas Company was hiring and put in an application. She
told a friend, and the friend replied, "Don't waste your time, the test
is hard and you're not going to pass it." With God's help, she passed
the test and was hired at The Gas Company as a mail payment
processing clerk. She spent the next 42 years working at SoCalGas
in various customer services positions and offices throughout the
region. In 1992, her department relocated to Redlands, CA, and
she moved to the Inland Empire. Thelma continued to work in
Customer Billing Services as a Billing Analyst and finally as the
Customer Billing Services Supervisor until her retirement in 2021.
Thelma has one son and three grandchildren.
Thelma moved to Four Seasons in 2019. In 2022, she became
an active member of the African American Cultural Club (AACC).
She is currently the acting treasurer for the AACC. Now, joining
the Social Committee, she is also the acting treasurer for the Social
Committee.
We are ecstatic about having Thelma as part of the committee! It
was perfect timing as we needed a qualified treasurer after Andrea
Griffin stepped down after doing a fabulous job for five years.
Welcome Thelma!
