48 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2025 Our monthly meeting is May 15 at 6 pm; doors open at 5:15 pm. The meeting will feature French wines, with Teri DiMarino and Terry Hall as the "French Connection" for the evening. It promises to be a fun and educational event that the French would be proud of. Who wants to live longer? Claudia Rozzi will present some interesting findings on how to live longer. You won't want to miss this one. It is always fun to go out for a meal. Tito Calderon will discuss the life of a chef and the hospitality industry. I always wondered what they do with the leftover food. Tito will share some interesting insights. As always, please bring two glasses, a bottle to share (your choice, and something to share with your table (snacks or a dish to complement the wines). We are always looking for guest presenters, if you have four wines (two red and two white) that you like, please reach out to me by email or phone. We encourage our members to share their insights and contribute to the experience. Looking forward to seeing everyone there! ~ Tom DePaola, tomdepaola@roadrunner.com, (714) 404-1956 At our April meeting, we had 20 plus car enthusiasts and their beautiful rides on hand to share conversation and enjoy coffee and donuts. The Corvettes were well represented with eight 'Vettes showing up. The representatives from Carol's Kitchen handed out f lyers to their car show on Saturday, June 7, from 9 am to 2 pm. It is open to all cars, trucks, and motorcycles. It will be held at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church, 1234 Palm Ave, Beaumont. Pre-Registration ends May 30. The cost is $30 which includes a t-shirt. The best way to register and make payment is online at carolskitchen.org. If you wish to be grouped together with the other entrants from Four Seasons, meet us at The Lodge parking lot between 6:30 and 7 am and we'll caravan to the show together at 7 am. This month's tip … five sneakily expensive upgrades for your classic car 1. ENGINE SWAP: While it is possible to buy an engine for a reasonable price it is the small parts that will drain your bank account. $10 here and $25 there will add up e.g. sensors, gaskets, carburetors, and intake/exhaust manifolds, etc. 2. PAINT JOB: "Patina" is not for everyone. If you want fresh color and clear coat on your classic ride, it's best to prepare yourself for the final bill well in advance. Good paint jobs are not cheap, especially if you're unable to do the prep work yourself. Cleaning, sanding, and masking eat up mountains of time when done right and time is money. 3. CUSTOM WHEELS: Not after-market wheels, but custom, made-to-order wheels, are expensive. 4. A GOOD STEREO: If you want to upgrade the stereo in your aging car you might be in for a frustrating mix of adapters and ill-fitting parts. Putting new speakers into old openings doesn't always yield the results expected. Getting modern sound in an old car costs real money. 5. NEW UPHOLSTERY: Much like a custom suit, unless you know what you are looking for, custom upholstery can sometimes hide in plain site. Replacing tired upholstery components will often spiral up in cost, new door panels, dashboards, etc. will make the rest of the interior look even worse. We meet the first Saturday of every month at 9 am in The Lodge parking lot. Our next meeting will be May 3. Hope to see you there.
