May is a good time to be outside admiring the f lowers, taking a walk, talking with neighbors, enjoying the pool, and walking the dog (or dogs). Speaking of dogs, it's gratifying to see all the adopted Rescue dogs - their owners are very special people. Could there be more dogs than residents in Four Seasons? Last month, we held our Annual Election, the first by Acclimation. This month we fill the open position on the Board. Our "new" Board will follow Four Seasons' Vision Statement, Mission Statement, and Values Statement. These doctrines will continue to define our community. Some Random Musings: How do you know what is going on in Four Seasons? In addition to the electronic bulletin board in the lobby, two good ways: 1. Read the committee reports in the Herald. 2. Listen to the committee reports at a Board Meeting. Stop signs: Under California law, drivers are required to stop at all stop signs. A complete stop means your tires are not moving. We have a few residents who do the "California Stop," that is merely slowing down to a crawl, instead of coming to a full stop. We also have a few folks who ignore the stop signs entirely. e Four Seasons "Wave": It's good to see people waving at each other and at the cars, although we can't see who is driving because of the tinted windows. Thanks, Roxy, for your willingness to serve on the Board. You definitely kept all of us on our toes. e Golf Club Memorial Bench: Very, Very Nice. Practicing Positivity: As we get older, sometimes it's difficult to be positive. A few tips: Practice gratitude - each day identify one to three things for which you are grateful. Savor good moments - talking with friends, enjoying a nice meal, etc. Spread kindness - holding a door open, smiling, saying thank you, etc. Enjoy Mother's Day with your loved ones. Remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice on Memorial Day. We are already one third into 2025, and your Board is focused on several challenges for this year and the future: Rising costs to maintain the quality of our community; maintaining the integrity of our streets; communications with our residents (ex. "Coffee with the Board"); keeping us safe; reviewing and updating our rules and regulations. Working with our committees, these "Challenges" will be met. We are fortunate to have had responsible, self less, and dedicated Boards of Directors at Four Seasons. Every Board stands on the shoulders of those who preceded us. A personal note: It's time to pass the baton to our "new" Board. Thank you to our staff, fellow Board members, and all the volunteers who help make Four Seasons what it is - a great place to live! See you around the neighborhood. "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away..." phrase used by General Douglas MacArthur in his address to the U.S. Congress.
