| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MAY 2025 | 15 The Restaurant & Lounge Advisory Committee is comprised of volunteers each with varied skill sets and business backgrounds. Together we collaborate, advise, and make recommendations to the Master Board. Mark your calendars and make your reservations for all the fun this month. We kick off the month on May 3 with the Kentucky Derby. Make believe you're at Churchhill Downs while enjoying one of Angel's mint juleps. Celebrate Cinco de Mayo on May 5 with a Tequila Margarita or a delicious Mexican coffee. Fiesta like there's no maƱana. On May 11 it's time to pamper Mom and Grandma. Mother's Day Brunch is the perfect way to show how much you appreciate and care for those who cared for you with something for every taste. Enjoy the delicious food stations, decadent desserts, and mimosas. Enjoy the day with your mom, grandma, noni, family, and friends. Call for reservations at (951) 769-6654. Let's give a Mother's Day toast to all the perfectly imperfect moms in the world. May 16 is National Mimosa Day. Need I say more? May 26 is Memorial Day. On this day, we pay tribute to those who gave their lives while protecting and serving their nation. At 3 pm local time on Memorial Day, observe a minute of silence to remember and honor those who have died in service to the nation. Memorial Day was witnessed on May 30 from 1868 until 1970 it is now observed annually on the last Monday in May. In 1971, the date of the holiday was officially changed to the last Monday in May. Other holidays, such as Presidents' Day and Martin Luther King Jr. Day, were also moved to be on Mondays. Some think saying "Happy Memorial Day" puts the holiday in a cheerful light, as opposed to the day of honor and remembrance it's meant to be. Instead of saying, "Happy Memorial Day," use the Code of Support Foundation's alternative phrase, "I wish you a meaningful Memorial Day." The entire CCL team and the Sun Lakes staff continue to work very hard on our behalf. Our part is not to complain on social media or to each other. If something is not to your liking or you have issue with something or someone, voice it via message on the Sun Lakes website or send a message to CCL directly. You can also tell any member of this committee and we will direct it to the proper channel. Sun Lakes offers three venues plus the Veranda, all new exciting menus, and new hours. Participating is the only way to keep these valuable amenities for our beautiful, fun community. Until next month, always be humble and kind, surround yourself with positivity in all things and enjoy peace in your heart. ~ Carole Elliott, caroleelliott28@gmail.com Restaurant & Lounge Advisory
