Our first two parties of the year have been nothing but spectacular according to the party goers. We are stepping it up again this year and are getting ready to top that. The responses for big bands have been great. Everyone loves big bands. Our dance floor has been hopping yet as I go from table to table, I visit with members that don't dance and attend our parties for the love of big bands and for the atmosphere. Enjoying food and drink with their friends. April 18th, we had a great band, Big Revenge. The party was hosted by Susan Brainin Martin and her volunteers decorating the hall with the whatever theme. Wear whatever, bring whatever food and whatever drinks you like. Another Doo Wop party success. Members danced the night away. The next party will be held on May 8 featuring the Boogie Xpress band. The party will be hosted by the creative and energetic Leilani Resney and her troops decorating the hall with the Spring Fling theme. We are happy to announce the June 13 party will be back outside in the Lanai with the popular big band Cool Rush performing. The party with the Bunny Hop theme will be hosted by Susan Fishman and her group of volunteers. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Dance from 6 to 9 pm. Coffee, tea, and water will be provided. Get your friends together and sign up for a great time. Written by Tom Harwood 14 | OHCC LIVING | MAY 2025 | Village Squares Doo Wop It has been such a pleasure to have members of The Wranglers joining us on Wednesday nights. It's always more fun if there are a lot of dancers, which raises the energy and enthusiasm. We have enjoyed the beautiful voice of our caller, Mike Haworth, and we appreciate the wide variety of songs he uses, always including numbers that suit the holiday or the season. He uses both oldies and newer songs, so we dance to many genres of music. Our theme dance for March was "It's Not Easy Being Green." There were many shades of green on the dance floor, and Nancy Bolton even sported green hair! We continue to enjoy the camaraderie, the dancing, the exercise of both mind and body, the lifting of spirits as we dance. Written by Valerie ompson, Secretary Hello fun-loving residents. If you're happy to see them, tell them you just got home. If you don't want to see them, say you were on your way out. You know you're getting older when in preparation for a big sneeze you cross your legs and hope for the best. My wife made me coffee this morning and winked at me when she handed me the cup. I've never been more scared of a drink in all my life. I go out all day looking fabulous and see no one I know. I go out for five minutes looking like the worst mess and it's a freakin' class reunion. I may not be Wonder Woman, but I can do things that make me wonder! You know that moment when you wake up in the morning full of energy? Yeah, me neither. Some people age life as a fine wine. I aged like milk and got sour and chunky. There's nothing better than when you're full-on laughing with someone, and both keep adding things that make it funnier, and you can barely breathe. I hope you loved, I hope you laughed, I hope you smiled. Tomorrow … I hope you do it again. Thought for the day. Be the reason someone smiles or blocks you. Whatever!
