| OHCC LIVING | MAY 2025 |27 Art Lovers The Art Lovers Club had its monthly meeting on Tues., March 18. As is done every month, Louise Peterson had a lovely lunch for club members to enjoy. There is no extra charge for lunch. If you are not happy when you come in, the wine that is served will brighten your mood. The club has something pertaining to art at every meeting. In March, the club was able to have Jo Marr, and OH resident, give us a class on working with cut glass. Shelly Bean supplied a web cam, so we could actually watch as she demonstrated how the glass was actually cut. Don Kent, one of her students, has been working with stained glass for over 35 years. He gave a very interesting and descriptive talk on the history of cut glass. He shared some beautiful pieces that he has made over the years. On Tues., June 17, there will be a bus trip to the Bowers Museum in Orange County. There we will see a display of some XEAN Terra Cotta Warriors. They were discovered by a group of farmers, digging a well in what used to be known as Lintug County in China, in 1974. It's an amazing site. They are life size and hundreds and hundreds of them exist. What is really rather interesting is that there is always a little Chinese man on the site in China, signing autographs. One has to wonder how authentic that part is. The cost of entrance to the museum is $23. The cost of the bus will be available at a later date, along with information on how to sign up. Join us. You will have a wonderful social and artistic experience. Written by Selma Leighton We give a BIG THANK YOU to our watercolorists for their recent display in the Art Studio: Andy Fulton, Bob Jones, Cindi DeWeese, Debbie Corral, Drora Oren, Kathy Kelsay, Kathy Leveck, Kim Murray, Lorraine Kleeman, Shellie Bean, and Tatis Cervantes Aiken. Beautiful work and amazing talent! And now we have the delightful opportunity to call to your attention the newest exhibit in the Art Studio, featuring the Papercrafting Artists. Their cards and artwork are amazingly detailed, beautifully colored, and thoughtfully designed. They meet weekly and use paper and metal presses to produce the intricate cutouts. The thought processes that go into each card also include their clever planning of theme and appropriate choice of design. You may also be enjoying the works of our talented artists and photographers installed at the front desk area of the Clubhouse. We have featured the work of Robert Genat, Gary Warmuth, and Joyce Rice. We appreciate your feedback during this trial period of displaying work by our residents, in hopes of continuing to highlight their art in this very visible space. If you'd like to show your work or give feedback, please contact the coordinators of these displays: Judy Harris, Lainy Vinikow, or MikeThornton. Written by Lainy and Judy. Art Studio
