34 | LIFE IN SOLERA | MAY 2025 |
In March, the Solera RV group went to the Springs at
Borrego RV Resort and Golf Course.
After we had set up our rigs, there was a Hot Dog
event (Tuesday only) for those who wished to join. You
were given one or two hot dogs that you roasted in a
fire pit. They had all the condiments including chili and
sauerkraut. Later they supplied all the ingredients for
S'mores.
They had a band night where the group called Lucky
Tongue performed. They were great with the music of
the 60s, 70s and 80s. There were also other events that
you could participate in if you wanted to.
There is a 9-hole golf course for those who wish to
golf. There is a driving range and putting green. There is
a lake for catch and release. They have tennis, pickleball
and basketball courts. There is one mineral swimming
pool but they have four mineral spas that you can enjoy.
They offered aqua aerobics several mornings, but we
weren't that energetic at that time of the morning. They
held an ax throwing and cornhole contests for those
who wish to win a prize.
Most of us just relaxed in our chairs, drank, and
talked. Others went downtown to explore, to the metal
sculptures which are impressive, or to the Farmers
Market. Farmers Market is only on Fridays. At night we
had a propane-fueled fire pit as you could not use wood
burning pits. It did get fairly chilly at night. Each rig/
family provided food for one night. Carlson's provided
a very delicious shrimp boil and dessert. Everyone
raved about it. Lucchesi's provided carnitas and sides
and dessert. Hoffecker's provided Lasagna, salad,
garlic bread and dessert. Ross' provided bratwurst
sausage sandwiches, coleslaw, potato salad and dessert.
Viefhaus' provide Chicken tortellini soup, bread and
dessert. All the meals were excellent.
