14 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | JUNE 2025 By Clare Mendez, Resident Neighborhood Watch Captain Bill Norton and his wife, Denise, planned another annual party for Camino Hidalgo residents. Daniel and I are lucky to live on the same street, so I'll tell you how it all comes together: Bill has collected contact information from our neighbors (with their approval), and once a year he sends out a blast to all of us and invites us to attend a planning meeting. At the planning meeting we agree on a date. us far the place for the Neighborhood Watch party has been at the Norton's home. A month or so ahead of time he then sends out another reminder and asks what we will be bringing to share. ose who did not divulge their contact information were verbally invited. e result is a gathering of great neighbors, delicious food, and friendly conversation. Anyone new to Camino Hidalgo is introduced and welcomed. e purpose of the annual get together is not only to build community spirit, it's to become more familiar with our neighbors and their needs. Friendships are strengthened with each visit which makes us more aware of what is happening on our street. Not only are we being diligent about what is happening, but we can oer help to those who need it. Aer all, the purpose of a Neighborhood Watch program is not only to promote safety and prevent crime but to look out for one another. If your street doesn't have a NW Captain, will you consider becoming that person? I just told you how to get it done. You don't have to have a party at your house, you can all plan to meet at one of our parks, or behind the Lodge by the replace. Some residents just order sub sandwiches and drinks. It takes just one person to send out the invitation and get the ball rolling. Neighborhood Watch Potluck By Georgeann Wellfare, Resident Our Memorial Day Event and Silent Auction has come and gone so quickly. We hope that you enjoyed the day and found some treasurers to bid on and take home. ank you to all who helped to make this event a big success.
