| THE COLONY NEWS | JUNE 2025 | 33 Men's Golf By Greg Gries Colony Couples 2Ball By Dennis Murphy, 951-461-0457 e May tournament for the Colony Couples 2Ball event has been played on an absolutely pristine aernoon of clear, pleasant weather. e only challenge was a strong continuous breeze passing over the front nine of play. e results, as usual with this venue, were surprising. As sometimes occurs, the HIGHEST gross score team won the event once adjustments were applied to their score. e team maximized their score reduction by nine strokes. A score of 40 was reduced to a 31 net when adjustments were applied. So how does that happen you ask? See the attached chart. Ya gotta come out and play the game. If you have interest, give me a call or drop me an email at dmurph44@vrizon.net and I will send you a 2025 tournament schedule (rst ursday aernoon of the month), rules of the game, and include you in our active mailing list. Our next contest is set for ursday, June 5. Requirements for this event are to be able to grasp a club! Being a member of the Men's or Women's Golf Club is not required. May's Winning Team e Colony Men's Golf Club held one of its major tournaments in May called the Club Championship. e Club Championship is a stroke play competition over two days to determine the top performing golfers in the league. Trophies are awarded for low gross and low net scores and there are some cash prizes for runners up. is year George Herrera won the low gross prize coming in at a 160 total score and Peter Yatar won the low net prize at 143 followed by Hank Fleisher at 144 and Mel Rich at 150. e Colony Men's Golf Club plays an 18-hole tournament every Wednesday at California Oaks golf club. We play a variety of games ranging from serious to fun and always with exciting competition. We are a fun-loving group taking golfers of all skill levels and elevating their game through regular play. Aer the game we usually hang around on the patio talking about the highlights of the day's game.
