| THE COLONY NEWS | JUNE 2025 | 7 Rules and Regulations Proposed new rules, or amendments to existing rules, require a 28-day member general notice (comment) period. e following proposed changes to "e Colony Rules and Regulations" have been approved by the Board to begin the general notice (comment) period. Any Member Comments regarding the proposed changes may be emailed to Kimberly Evans at Kimberly.evans@pcminternet.com. Comments on the proposed changes will be submitted to the Board for its consideration. PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO RULE 15.6 15.6 Gazebos, Arbors, Pergolas and Portable Shade Coverage. Gazebos and Pergolas are dened as freestanding roofed structures, without any walls, solid, or transparent, typically round, octagonal, square or rectangular, that oers an open view of the surrounding area. e roofs can be either open slats or solid. Gazebos and Pergolas can only be made out of wood, vinyl or metal. Appropriately anchored portable shade coverage (e.g., pop up/EZ up canopies), with fabric or canvas or similar material, are allowed for short-term use only (e.g., backyard parties and social events). Short-term is dened as two parties/events within a calendar month, no longer than 72 hours per party/event. *Sections 15.6.1 through 15.6.8 remain intact and unchanged. PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO RULE 15.16.4 REASON FOR AMENDMENT: e existing Rule 15.16.4 is being amended to clarify language in the LAC Standards and Guidelines Rule 25.1.5. A home improvement application must be completed and submitted to the Architectural Control Committee (ACC). e application shall include the following: (a) e type of veneer material. (i.e., brick manufactured veneer or cultured stone). (b) A e color sample of all materials to be used. (c) A color photograph of the home and a diagram/sketch showing where the products are to be installed. (d) A copy of the manufacturer's pamphlet or advertisement showing the material. *Sections 19.1.2 through 19.1.5 remain intact and unchanged.
