Table Tennis/
Ping Pong
Our regular play times are Mondays and Wednesdays 4 to 6
pm, Fridays 1 to 3 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 12 pm. Because of
scheduling conf licts for the Ballroom, we sometimes get bumped
into special play times that are updated on the SLCC website, and
printed copies are available on play days in the Ballroom. There
is also a touch screen monitor in the lobby of the Main Clubhouse,
where the schedule can be brought up. If there are any questions
or concerns, contact Gary Lile at (805) 722-7427, 4lile@yahoo.
com, or leave a message with John Williams at (951) 489-9737,
jgwms.williams@gmail.com. All comers are welcome; the only
requirements are laced tennis shoes, and a desire to have fun, play
with friends, and get some excellent health benefits from a low-risk
activity.
SLCC table tennis hot fun games lit it up last month. The games
delighted the participants, and the onlookers gawking at the play
of these ignited seniors. Like it's getting to be a demonstration
of every type of spin and deceptive trick in the book. How about
off table ballistic shots? Yep, those showed up. How about block
returns on hard smashes down the line? Yep, those were shocking
and exhilarating. In one instance, the fun had to stop because
a lady player (to remain nameless) came down with a fit of the
giggles. Endorphins went wild as it got infectious. Somehow this
was Looney Tunes stuff. Like Sylvester the Cat and Tweety Bird vs.
Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner. The games are becoming a
cartoon of unbelievable shots. How could a bunch of stiff seniors
play like this?
Come on down to the Main Clubhouse Ballroom and indulge in
some old-fashioned healthy fun; we'd love to have you no matter the
skill level. We do observe all the rules of sportsmanship. We have
room and plenty of tables and a robot to accommodate newcomers.
Play singles or doubles (team building and camaraderie live here).
If that doesn't fit, come down and gawk it out.
