| LIFE IN SOLERA | JUNE 2025 | 31
It's June already, the month with the longest daylight day of the
year. Sat., June 21 is the longest day and the day for our summer
Picnic and Bocce Ball Tournament for Sippers Club members.
Check your email for the f lyer and sign-up information. Teams can
be two to four players.
Last month we had our Third Times The Charm / Name That
Tune night. It was a good test with categories like Kids We Watched
Grow Up On TV, One Hit Wonders, Title and Artist, and Duets by
Artists who don't usually sing together.
We are working on some other parties like Speakeasy, Progressive
Wine Tasting from house to house and even one or two just casual
evenings with music for dancing. Our goal is to have some kind of
social gathering every month. We will let you know more as the
year goes along.
If we sound like a fun group, we are always looking for new
members. If you enjoy being around people it does not matter
what your beverage of choice is. Most of our members enjoy a class
or more of wine, some beer or something harder and some don't
partake of any alcoholic beverage.
Did you know? During Prohibition, grape juice sales skyrocketed
California grape growers increased their cultivation by 700
percent during the first five years of Prohibition. Grape concentrate
was sold with a 'warning' label, stating, "After dissolving the
brick in a gallon of water, do not place the liquid in a jug away in
the cupboard for twenty-one days, because then it would turn into
wine." We don't have any statistics on how many juice purchasers
actually followed/didn't follow those instructions, but we can guess.
