16 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JUNE 2025 | Ahhh summer … just the sound of it evokes fond memories of seasons past. Birds singing, gentle breezes rustling through the trees, music on the Plaza and enjoying the cool water of our beautiful pool. As a child, experiencing those rst sounds and smells of summer were lawn mowers cutting grass because they symbolized summer was ocially here. School was nally out for summer vacation and I could sleep in, waking only to the sound of lawn mowers! Now, all these years later, I still enjoy the sound of lawn mowers and working in the yard. Pictured here is our latest pleasure: an Angel Garden, complete with our little angel, Ringo! And our latest project of organic vegetable and herb gardening is going swimmingly as I've already begun snipping samples to taste and enjoy. One of life's many pleasures is being able to partake of something you create and growing one's own food for better health now ranks high on the list. During this project, I learned that all parts of the chamomile plant are edible; encouraging calmness, restfulness and are chock full of anti- inammatory properties. (And to think I planted this herb next to the lavender to simply boil and make tea!) Dialogue for our Community Garden continues to evolve as plans come together over this shared passion. Ranking high on the minds of those spearheading this exciting endeavor are methodologies of how best to serve those interested. Once underway, education and support by several Master Gardeners will be available. One of the many pleasures I enjoy about our club, in addition to supporting our Community Garden, is branching out to learn more about plants and owers I've never heard of before. What attracts most of us to something new? Usually something unusual, or unfamiliar, but beautiful and exotic. Aer spending time on the Garden Isle of Kauai I have renewed inspiration for the unusual and have become fascinated with various species of lilies. is red beauty, known as Aztec Lily, was gied to me recently by a dear friend. Our June meeting will be on Mon., June 9 at 1 pm in the Arts & Cras Room. An excursion to Rose Haven in Temecula, followed by lunch at the Temecula Creek Inn is planned for Fri., June 27. All Four Seasons residents are welcome to join us for meetings and excursions. God shares with us every day the beauty of His creation. As you appreciate the serenity of this tranquil San Diego sunset, imagine the sea of colorful gardens growing beneath the surface of the water.
