FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JUNE 2025 63 We held our end of winter indoor tournament on Sat., May 3 at The Summit and the winners were Team Gophers (they go fer the win)! The tournament was followed by a Cinco de Mayo themed potluck with a taco bar, nachos, and margaritas at The Courts. We have now moved most of the volleyball action outdoors for summer play at The Courts, but as noted in last month's message, we are designating Saturday indoor games (10 am to 12 pm) at The Summit specifically for beginner play (Division 3). If you ever thought you'd like try water volleyball, but were intimidated by the level of competition, this is your chance to participate. There will be no spiking or blocking in Division 3 play and the ball we use indoors is softer than what is used outdoors. Also, The Summit pool is shallower than the one at The Courts. So no excuses, come out and give it a go. Monday and Friday outdoor games (10 am to 12 pm at The Courts) are designated for general play with participants of all levels welcome to join in. Wednesdays (10 am to 12 pm) are set aside specifically for advanced play (one-handed serves only, spiking and blocking at the net allowed, etc.). Water volleyball is a great way to get out of the house for some low impact exercise. Everyone is welcome. You don't need to be a member of the club to play, and all ages, heights and skill levels can participate! So come on out, join our shuff leboard family, and participate in an outdoor activity, while getting a little exercise and enjoying some fresh air and socialization with other Four Seasons residents. We play on Monday and Saturday mornings at 9 am for now. At some point, as the weather warms up, we will switch to our summer hours, where we begin playing at 8 am. We play at the shuff leboard courts at The Lodge, behind the swimming pool and next to the paddle tennis courts. We enjoy playing in our own quiet, somewhat shaded area. Shuff leboard is an easy game to learn and anyone can quickly become proficient at this sport. Our games usually last about an hour or so and we choose up different teams each time that we play. This allows us to keep the competition challenging and the games more interesting. We play for fun, but of course, everyone likes to win. We have no losers, only non-winners. We have a great group of players who play regularly, but we are always looking to welcome new players. So if you are interested in joining a fun activity with lots of friendly residents, please just show up on Monday and/or Saturday mornings, a little before 9 am. We will give you an introduction to shuff leboard if you have never played before, or a refresher, if needed. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Otherwise, I hope to see you at the shuff leboard courts. ~ Marty Rotman, (310) 948-1693, mrtmj@ aol.com Shuffleboard Back Row: Todd Treacy, Rick Steckler, Paul Manderino, Craig Korotko; Front Row: Shannon Jerrain, Anita Jerrain, Bricey Leathers, Lou Stokes, Hank Negrete, Dave Rohrbacker Team gopher in action
