| SUN CITY CORE COURIER | JUNE 2025 | 13 Woodshop Classes Starting Soon A variety of woodworking classes have been approved by the SCCA Board to be held at the Woodshop. The upcoming classes include Beginning Woodworking Classes, Scroll Saw Classes, Lathe Classes, and Cutting Board Classes. The cost of each class varies. Most classes are between $30 and 50, which includes wood materials and all the supplies necessary for completing your project. You will finish each class with a project to take home, and you will be proud of your accomplishment and all that you learned. Some classes will require meeting between four and six times, usually for approximately three to four hours per class. The cost is still just a one-time fee of between $30 and $50. You do not need any woodworking experience to take any of these classes. You are invited to stop by the Woodshop to sign up for one of the classes. When you stop by, ask the on duty monitor for a quick tour, and look at all the machinery that you will learn to use. The cost of being a member of the Woodshop is $30 per calendar year. Being a Woodshop member gives you full access to all machinery and all supplies within the shop. The cost of being a member does not include the purchase of any wood that might be for sale at the woodshop. Woodshop Group Woodshop's June Rae The June raffle item is just in time for you to proudly display in your home as you celebrate Independence Day on the Fourth of July. This patriotic red, white, and blue wall hanging was handcrafted by Woodshop member Richard Vasquez. The wood used was cut on the scroll saw and then was painted. It measures 9 1/4" high and 7 1/4" wide. Thank you, Rick, for your generous donation for the Woodshop's monthly raffle. The winning raffle ticket will be drawn on Mon., June 30 at 12 pm. Stop by the Woodshop, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9 am and 2 pm, or Saturdays, between the hours of 9 am and 12 pm, to purchase that winning raffle ticket. Tickets are priced at two tickets for $5 or five tickets for $10. You do not need to be a member of the Woodshop to purchase tickets. The raffle is open to everyone that lives within the Core, and you do not need to be present to win. The winner will be called. If the person holding the winning raffle ticket does not respond after numerous phone calls over a one-week period, then another ticket will be drawn, and that new winner will be called.
