We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting! Amateur Radio Club Karaoke Club We Keep the Classics Alive Every Thursday evening at Civic Hall, something special happens. The lights dim. The mic warms up. And a small, but spirited, crowd of performers — most proudly over the age of 55 — steps into the spotlight. No judges, no fees, no pressure. Just music, memory, and community. Welcome to the Sun City Karaoke Club, a grassroots group where golden oldies reign and new friendships form through shared verses. Founded in July 2020 by Boyd Barrett, current Club President, and Stephen Caruso, current Club Vice-President, the club began humbly at Webb Hall during the height of social distancing, offering a much- needed outlet during uncertain times. Today, it thrives in its new home at Sun City Civic where it welcomes singers of all stripes — no auditions, no ageism, no dues. "It's not about being pitch-perfect," says Robert Barba, the club's music librarian and longtime supporter. "It's about connection. Singing songs that mean something to you and having a room full of people sing them right back." Karaoke is all about FUN! Whether you sing a heartfelt ballad or an Adam Sandler comedy song, the goal is to enjoy yourself. It's about sharing laughs, making memories, and having a blast. Remember, karaoke is NOT a competition; it's a chance to sing, no matter your skill level. The club meets every Thursday, from 5 to 8 pm. There is no cost to attend, but a well-loved tip jar helps cover the cost of snacks, drinks, and a growing digital catalog of karaoke tracks. With no formal membership required, the crowd fluctuates but remains loyal. Some folks come to sing while others just to listen and clap along. The atmosphere is always welcoming, and every voice adds something unique to the experience. Whether you are a seasoned singer, a shy hummer, or someone just looking for a reason to get out and smile, the club offers something rare these days: real, off-line community, one song at a time.
