Spotlight on Terrie Garcia
Terrie Garcia (left) grew up in Rialto in
Southern California. She moved to Solera in
2020 with her husband Fernando Garcia.
After a soccer injury, she was forced to take
up a new sport. She shows up to play tennis
whenever the weather isn't too bad or when
she goes out of town or on a cruise. Terrie says
she mostly enjoys playing doubles, but she will
play singles for the exercise and to experience
different levels of players.
In 2008, in her first year of playing tennis,
she joined a USTA Southern California tennis
team. Her team went to sectionals and won
first place!
The last couple of years Terrie has gone to
the Oldlympics in Hemet to play competitive
doubles tennis. She and Herman Jamilano (at
right) took 1st place in 2023 mixed doubles. In
2024, they won 3rd place.
Terrie's bucket list includes going to
Wimbledon, the Australian Open, and the
French Open. ~ Shirley Ferguson
