By Valorie Hillerich In the words of Mr. Rogers, "Won't you be my neighbor?" And, in the words of e Colony, "Hey, let's meet our neighbors!" e Sunshine Committee, under Paula ompson, has their "Meet Your Street" activity up and running! According to the chairperson, Virginia Incorvia, this event has become very successful this past year. Block parties are popping up all over e Colony, and many streets are making it a quarterly gathering. Why "Meet Your Street?" e Colony has become so popular, we have many new residents that haven't had the chance to meet their neighbors. Paula ompson came up with the idea of a "Meet Your Street" get-together aer seeing so many people gathering outdoors during the pandemic. At that time, getting together outside became a way for residents to reconnect with each other during a dicult time. Fast forward to today and we have MEET YOUR STREET! And it works! So many people have connected with old friends, made new ones, and enjoyed food, beverages and fun in a casual, welcoming atmosphere. Some groups even meet osite at a restaurant, park or the clubhouse … any place to keep the party going! Check out these pictures (above) taken by Marc Tuttobene at Corte Calanova's recent Meet Your Street party. e night was cold, but the party was hot! And a good time was had by all!
