| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JULY 2025 | 13 Sun Lakes has numerous golf activities for residents. There are women and men's golf clubs for both the Championship and Executive Courses. These clubs operate much like traditional golf clubs with member tournaments. The Saturday Morning Golf Group open to women and men on the Executive Course likes to identify as more of a social club than a golf club. All these clubs hold regular golf events with a variety of tournament formats. The opportunity to get involved is only limited by a resident's interest to participate. In addition to the various golf clubs there are many golf activities for residents to enjoy even if you are not a regular golfer. The Pass Putters event takes place once a month on Friday on the Championship putting green. This is an 18-hole "putting only" competition. Pitch, Putt, Play takes place once a month on Tuesday on the Executive Course. This involves pitching the ball a short distance (10-30 yards) onto the green and then putting out in a nine-hole event. After golf, participants gather in the Sandwedge for a drink and snack and awarding of prizes. Friday afternoon scrambles take place twice a month on the Championship Course. Special tournaments take place throughout the year including Pro Shop-run events (Nine and Dine, Horse Race) and various annual Charity tournaments (Pro-Am, Monster Scramble, Women for Hope, Lions Club). Golf is a great way to get involved in your community. It's a great way to meet new friends and create lasting relationships that are especially valuable in a 55+ community. The GAC supports and encourages the variety of golf activities so that every resident can have an opportunity to participate. All the information regarding these golf clubs and golf activities can be found on our various info sharing platforms. Flyers and sign-up sheets for these activities can be found in the Pro Shop. If you have questions about golf at Sun Lakes drop into the Pro Shop today and talk to one of our knowledgeable golf staff. ~ Mike Callahan, callahm56@yahoo.com Golf Advisory
