Happy Fourth Of July! As we prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July, let's ref lect on its significant past and present. It remains a powerful reminder of the values of freedom, democracy, and national unity in today's world. While it originally marked the American colonies' declaration of independence from British rule in 1776, the holiday now symbolizes the enduring struggle for liberty and equality. In today's world, with ongoing debates about rights and justice, the Fourth of July serves as a poignant reminder to ref lect on what it means to be free and how to safeguard those freedoms for all citizens. It serves as both a celebration of progress and a call to action to uphold the principles upon which the United States was founded. The Fourth of July is a time when Americans come together to celebrate the birth of the United States and ref lect on the values that have shaped the nation. Among these values, patriotism has always stood as a cornerstone of American identity. However, the meaning and expression of patriotism have evolved significantly over time. Understanding its importance and how it has changed is key to appreciating its role in both our history and our present. At its core, patriotism is a deep love and devotion to one's country. It involves honoring the principles on which our nation was founded, such as freedom, democracy, justice, and unity, and a willingness to defend and uphold those ideals. In the United States, patriotism has often been tied to the values enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. These documents have guided the nation for over two centuries. Patriotism goes beyond mere f lag-waving; it's about active participation in civic life, respect for fellow citizens, and a commitment to improving the nation. It unites people from diverse backgrounds under a shared identity and encourages them to collaborate toward a better future. Let us remember these values as we come together as community members with diverse interests and backgrounds to create our strong and vibrant Four Seasons community. As we all celebrate America the Beautiful this Fourth we remember this cherished tradition that celebrates not only Independence Day, but also the close-knit community spirit that makes Four Seasons special. The recommended budget will be reviewed by the Board of Supervisors during public budget hearings scheduled for June 9 and June 10. The recommended budget was shaped by in-depth talks with County departments and expanded outreach to hear from the community, such as surveys and workshops. It includes $2.8 billion for health services, $2.3 billion for public safety, $2.0 billion for human services, and $1.2 billion for public works.
