City of Menifee Update Some may remember the Bank of America that was located at the corner of Sun City Boulevard and Cherry Hills Boulevard. That branch is now closed. The city of Menifee purchased the building in 2023 to use as a full-service police department substation. Unlike our prior substation in the Cherry Hills Plaza, this facility will have a walk-up counter for the public to make reports and request other police services. The building was originally constructed in the 1960s. That means it was built using asbestos. For the past few months, the project has been on hold while we developed a plan to deal with this hazard. On May 7, the City Council approved a contract for a company to remove the asbestos so we can complete the remodeling inside. You should see new activity at the site soon. I will update you when we have an estimated completion date. Also on May 7, the City Council also approved a construction contract for the Bradley Road Bridge over Salt Creek, costing just over $16 million. Work is scheduled to begin by the beginning of July. We are currently mapping out a plan to reroute the Salt Creek Trail so the public can continue to use it during the construction. We are also coordinating with our public safety agencies to place additional emergency equipment and personnel at Fire Station 7 so that the closure of the bridge will not slow down response times for requests for service. City Council meetings are held at City Hall the first and third Wednesdays of each month at 6 pm and are open to the public. You can also watch online on our YouTube channel. If you have questions, comments, or concerns about the City, please send an email to bkarwin@cityofmenifee.us. By Robert Karwin, bkarwin@cityofmenifee.us Please note that the City of Menifee facilities will be closed on Friday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day.
