ADVERTISING Contact Image Up at (909) 797-3647 or email imageup1@verizon.net With the arrival of summer, it's time to stay cool and stay safe. As summer temperatures rise, it's important for adults 55 and older — and their pets — to take extra care during hot weather. High heat can be more dangerous for older adults, especially those with health conditions or who take medications that affect how the body handles heat. Pets are also at risk, especially dogs and cats, since they don't cool off the same way people do. e best way to stay safe is to avoid outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, usually between 10 am and 4 pm. Early morning or evening is the safest time to go for a walk, garden, or exercise. Always drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty. Dehydration can happen quickly in hot weather and may lead to serious health problems. Wearing light-colored, breathable clothing and a hat can help you stay cool. If you bring your pet outside, make sure the pavement isn't too hot - if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws. Bring water for your pet and take breaks in the shade. If you or your pet start to feel dizzy, confused, overly tired, or sick, it may be a sign of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Move to a cool place right away, sip water, and get medical help if needed. Always make sure pets have a cool place to rest indoors and never leave them — or anyone — in a parked car, even for a short time. Summer can be a great time to stay active and enjoy the outdoors, but staying safe in the heat is key. With a few simple precautions, you and your furry companions can enjoy the season comfortably and safely. On a different note: You may have noticed a few new friendly faces around the Lodge lately! We're excited to officially introduce two new members of our management team, Juan and Mady, who joined us last month. Both have already made a positive impact with their energy, enthusiasm, and strong work ethic. With backgrounds in team sports during their high school years, Juan and Mady bring a true team-player mindset to everything they do. eir collaborative spirit and can-do attitude have made them a great fit, and we're thrilled to have them on board. If you haven't had the chance to meet them yet, be sure to say hello — they're looking forward to getting to know everyone! GM Report By Irma Rabago, General Manager Resident Round Table Resident Round Table will be Tuesday, July 29 at 2 pm.
