SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | AUGUST 2025 9
By Edith Reed, Resident
We had a great drill on the 11th of June. We had gas leaks, broken glass, injured
residents, GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) communication and food. All the
scenarios were simulated, not real, but real-life experiences were gained by those who
took part in this drill. ey learned what to do in the anticipation of an emergency event.
Freeze dried emergency food was prepared by Gregg Tyler. We had some tasty morsels,
and some not so tasty. But the lesson learned is that emergency food is edible, can be
made tasty, and should be on hand just in case of issues. By the way, the peanut butter
was really quite good.
Even if you have never done this before, taking part in an exercise such as this gives you
valuable knowledge of what to do in the future.
We want to thank all those who participated. Vets and Friends helped us set up and
stayed to help with the take down. A huge thank you to them. ey were very much
needed.
