| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2025 | 5 Community Awareness Program By Michele Walter If you did not have the opportunity to be present for our program in July, you will definitely want to watch it on Channel 97. We had two presentations. The first one was Blue Zones, presenters Ruben Gonzales, Ashley Radke, Robert Sibole, and Thomas Miranda. The second presentation was on Probate, Wills & Trusts and Estate Planning, by Leah Larkin, Attorney at Law. We had such an incredible turn out, that we had to bring out more chairs to accommodate all the residents that were interested in the presentations. You can go to our website and find out more on these two presentations. I have had several calls regarding Scams on Amazon Prime. Here is some information directly from Amazon. What's happening: • Scammers are sending fake emails claiming your Amazon Prime subscription will automatically renew at an unexpected price. • The scammers might include personal information in the emails, obtained from other sources, in an attempt to appear legitimate. • These emails may also include a "cancel subscription" button leading to a fake Amazon login page. • Do not click on any links in these messages. Scammers use fake websites to steal your Amazon login credentials and banking information. What you should do: • Scams can typically be ignored with no action. However, here are some suggested actions that may be applicable. • If you want to verify your Prime membership, open your Amazon mobile app or go directly to Amazon.com. Select "Prime" from the main menu to view your membership status, renewal dates, and plan details. • If you clicked on any suspicious links, monitor your credit/ debit card statements for unfamiliar charges and contact your bank immediately about any unauthorized transactions. • Report suspicious communications to amazon.com/ reportascam. • Enable two-step verification for your Amazon account through the Login and Security settings or visit amazon.com/2SV We will have two presenters on Aug. 5 at 1 pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. The first one will be San Gorgonio Hospital regarding an update on the Stroke Center. The second one is the Alzheimer's Association on the warning signs of Alzheimer's and how to identify and address concerns. Questions or concerns? Call Michele Walter at (951) 202-8009 or email crystalwater@dc.rr.com. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING. National Senior Citizens Day, observed on Aug. 21, is dedicated to recognizing and appreciating the contributions of older adults to society. It's a time to appreciate their wisdom, experience, and impact on our communities and families. Many seniors are now beginning second careers, serving as great examples for younger generations, which inspired the Hire-a-Senior Program. This program incentivizes District 5 businesses to hire District 5 seniors (55+). Businesses can receive a $1,000-$2,500 stipend after 90 days of hire, while seniors can receive $750 after 90 days of hire. Businesses can hire up to five seniors, full-time or part-time!
