8 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | AUGUST 2025 | From the Pro Shop is summer, golfers everywhere look forward to prime playing conditions — sunny skies, rm fairways, and longer daylight hours. With higher temps comes a need to adjust your approach, both in how you play and how you prepare. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you play summer golf. 1. Expect Faster, Firmer Conditions: Spring's so turf and gentle greens give way to summer's speed. Firmer fairways mean more roll on your drives — consider clubbing down or changing your landing targets. Greens typically dry out and run faster, requiring a lighter putting touch. Summer rough also thickens up, making accuracy o the tee more critical than ever. 2. Dress Smart, Play Cool: Summer golf demands breathable, moisture-wicking apparel. Swap out cotton for technical fabrics, and rotate gloves to maintain grip when things get sweaty. Firmer turf may also call for more supportive footwear—consider switching to spiked or hybrid golf shoes for added stability. 3. Hydration and Sun Protection Are Key: Dehydration and sunburn are two of the biggest hazards during summer rounds. Start hydrating before your tee time and continue sipping water throughout. Don't forget electrolytes on especially hot or humid days. Apply sunscreen before your round and reapply at the turn. Sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat are smart additions to your summer kit. All are available in our golf shop. 4. Shi Your Tee Times: If your schedule allows, try to play early in the morning or later in the aernoon. Not only will you avoid the peak heat, but you'll likely nd a more relaxed pace of play and less crowded tee sheets. Final ought: Summer golf is a season to enjoy — just be prepared for the heat, the rmer course, and the faster pace. A few smart adjustments will help you stay comfortable, sharp, and ready to make the most of every round. ank you for an incredible Charity Week!
