The June 12th tournament challenged 10 foursomes in the two-flight competition for first place position in the A & B Format competition. It was a mildly competitive event that posted first place winners in the "A" and "B" flights. The spread between first and third for each flight was not a tight race. When the tournament was over the following posted winning position for the contest: Winning Teams "A" Flight • 1st 50.997 Peter Yatar, Adrienne Grissen, Joe Cwirka and Marge Anderson • 2nd 52.148 Dan and Sherryl Beamish, Rich and Bea Brown • 3rd 55.664 John Comeau, Loretta Schlosser, Charles Craven and Annette Lalicker "B" Flight • 1st 54.329 John and Jennifer Funke, Ron Baldridge and Donna Matteucci • 2nd 54.784 Jerry and Pat Caldera, Greg Griffes and Linda Peterson • 3rd 57.875 David and Pat Bailey, Del Mitchum and Pat Byron NOTE: We did have one team disqualified for having exceeded the individual drive rule by posting eight drives for the 18-hole event. The rule states that there is a "Seven drive MAXIMUM per player." The BAD news is that they were disqualified. The GOOD news is that honesty remains an important standard in the game of golf. Closest to the Pin • #3 Team #11 John Comeau, Loretta Schlosser, Charles Craven and Annette Lalicker – 14'4 • #5 Women, Unclaimed / Men, John Funke – 11'4 ½" • #15 Women, Paula Thompson – 24'8" / Men, Rick Lake– 10'1" • #16 Team #15 Jerry and Pat Caldera, Greg Griffes and Linda Peterson – 9'8" Our shotgun start will move to a 7:30 am tee for the July through September events. The DARWIN went unclaimed for this event … not because there were not deserving recipients but for the lack of energy by the "prosecutor." I'm told that will not be the case in July. There may be some carry-over from earlier months. Our next contest is set for, Thursday, Aug. 14, and it will be our most popular venue, "Pick Your Own Foursome." As with all Jack and Jill events, you DO NOT have to be a member of either the Men's or Women's Golf Clubs to play. Just pick up your sticks and join us for the fun and friendly competition. See ya on the links! June Winners 36 | THE COLONY NEWS | AUGUST 2025 | Jack & Jill By Dennis Murphy, 951-461-0457 Our Summer league ended July 31, and we are now looking for bowlers for our Winter league that starts on Thursday, Sept. 4, and runs through the end of May 2026. It is a handicapped league, which basically means all bowlers have the same average, including your handicap. So, just because you don't think you are a good bowler, we are all the same with a handicap! If you are interested in joining the Winter league, please contact me as soon as possible so I can get you on a team. We have a lot of fun, and each month we have a catered dinner by The Cove Bar & Grill. Afterwards we have a trivia game and also a dice game called Left, Center, Right. At the end of our Winter league, we pass out approximately $8,000 in prize money! As of July 1, our Summer league standings are as follows.
