10 | SUN CITY CORE COURIER | AUGUST 2025 | The Bunco Fun Bunch welcomes all SCCA residents and their guests (guys & gals) to play Bunco! NEWBIES too! Bunco is fast- paced, but easy-to-learn. We play every fourth Wednesday at 1 pm in Civic Hall (26601 Cherry Hills Boulevard). This month our game is on Wed., Aug. 27. There are no dues, but players donate a $10 Gift Card to the Bunco Prize Pot. Winners take home various gift cards, depending on the number of players and the Bunco category won We play four players to a table, and Civic Hall is large enough for the long, rectangle tables, which gives us ample space for our snacks, cups, and dice. It also has a huge counter for the snacks. Player Requirements: SCCA residents must show their current SCCA white activities photo ID card when signing-in at the door. Resident without a current card signs-in as a "guest." Players donate a $10 gift card with the gift card (GC) receipt taped to it (GCs to retail stores, grocery stores, restaurants, fast food eateries, ice cream shops, etc.). GCs are placed in the Bunco Prize Pot when signing-in. Everyone brings their own drink and a snack to share with others (no alcohol). Store-bought items are fine Please take leftovers home with you. SCCA residents may bring guest(s), but the resident and guest(s) must sign-in together at the door (the resident is responsible for all guests they bring). "Regular" monthly players receive a Bunco email reminder a few days before the game. Important: Please call us if you need to cancel. BUNCO SCHEDULE: 12:35-12:55 pm: Sign-Ins & Collection of GCs; 1 pm: Doors Close - Rules Reviewed; 1:05 pm: Game starts. After signing-in, please set-up your snack on the counter and find a table and chair. Players must be signed in and ready to play by 1 pm. No additional sign-ins after 1 pm. Come with friends and enjoy an afternoon of bunco, food, fun, and laughter! That's what our Bunco Fun Bunch is all about! Bunco Fun Bunch Friendship Club We are following our club motto, "Friends, Food, and Fun." The club is looking forward to its second of three club-supplied meals. The meal is to celebrate Labor Day, and we are planning a barbeque theme. Again, we do not have any pictures. You will have to show up to our meetings to experience the excitement. For some reason, we are all too busy having fun, visiting with our new and existing friends/ neighbors, to think about pulling out our phones to take a picture. The toughest thing about being the president of the Friendship Club is getting the room's attention to start the meeting. The members are too busy visiting with each other. The energy in the room is rewarding to see everybody visiting. If it was not for being hungry and the food before us, I would not be able to get anybody's attention. Our fall line-up themes are: • October – Chili cook off • November – we are still undecided between soup or a meatloaf cook-off • December – we are capping the year off with our cornucopia holiday feast We hope to continue this fabulous attendance of our old friends and new friends. To those of you who came to the Friendship Club in the past, I invite you to try us again. We have been listening to many suggestions and making adjustments. We are not the Friendship Club of yesteryear. Don't miss our Friendship Club meetings/potlucks on the first Friday of every month, doors open at 5 pm at Civic Hall. We get acquainted with our new and old friends from 5 to 5:30 pm and share our food at our famous potluck from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. To those of us that enjoy cooking and baking, we get to share our favorite dishes. For the others, stop by the local grocery store/deli and bring your favorite food. We ask that you bring your own place setting and non-alcoholic beverage (coffee and water provided). Please come and join us at Civic Hall next to the Billards Room.
