GOLF CLUB
The major event for the month of June was the annual club
championship. This event covered two weeks with Bob Umeck
winning the low gross championship with a two-round total score
of 155. Runner-up was Dave Scott just two strokes behind. Low net
winner was Jim Karalun with a two round score of 137. Anan Forbes
just one stroke behind for runner-up honors.
June 24 featured a Cha Cha Cha format and four-man teams at
Oak Valley. 1st place went to the team of Dockery, Maciel, Salvadore,
and Samaro. CP winners were Gary Stange, Bob Umeck X2, and Jim
Karalun. Gary's shot was just 3 inches from the hole on #3.
Tukwet hosted the 3-clubs + putter tourney on July 1. Armand
Silva won this event with Marty Anderson finishing 2nd. Closest
to the pin honors went to Jim Karalun, Manny Magdaleno, Robert
Marks, and Merle Chapman.
An interesting format was held at Yucaipa on July 8. 6-6-6 featured
6 holes with a best ball twosome, the next 6 holes with an alternate
shot, and the final 6 in a scramble. Winners were a tie between two
teams—Mag Magdaleno-Dave Duncanson and Dave Samano-Jaime
Maciel. 3rd place went to Marty Anderson-Merle Chapman.
