| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | AUGUST 2025 | 9 is year's Independence Day celebration was a huge success and enjoyed by all who attended. It's always a privilege to have an opportunity to recognize the many liberties our great nation enjoys thanks to our forefathers' vision and the efforts over the years of those who serve us in a various ways to preserve the values we hold sacred. Heartfelt thanks for all the wonderful volunteers who worked so tirelessly to make this event happen a reality. It may not seem like it but fall is right around the corner. Save room on your calendar for Sept. 27 for our Oktoberfest celebration. Traditional music, eats, and revelry are on the agenda! Stay tuned in an upcoming article for details on this not to be missed affair. is event is for those aged 21 and better. Save the date. It may only be August but it is time to start thinking about December! Our Holiday Home Tour will be on Sat., Dec. 20, so be sure to mark your calendars for this great community event. e Social Committee is busy working to ensure that the upcoming season is full of entertaining and enjoyable activities and events. Please welcome Karen Hirschman as the Committee's new Chair and thank Mary Swinney for her leadership and guidance over the past year. Mary's efforts and energy are most appreciated and have ensured the successful production of events over the past year. As new leadership takes effect, this seems like a good opportunity to describe how the Social Committee operates. As with all committees at Four Seasons, when there is a vacancy, positions are filled by Board approval based on the recommendation of the referring committee. As ideas for events are brought to the Social Committee for consideration, it is always with the understanding that the price of admission is predicated on the need for the event to be revenue neutral so that only those who participate pay — no expenses are paid out of the general fund. If, however, a specific event does realize a profit those funds are returned to the general fund for the benefit of the entire Four Seasons community. All events organized and produced by the Social Committee are open to the entire community and everyone (including Social Committee members) pay the same admission fee to enjoy the event. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Social Committee Library Committee I began thinking about writing this August message while we were staying recently at a Newport Coast resort. Considering all the resort amenities, I realized that Four Seasons is like a resort. We have beautiful and fully equipped places to stay, a large swimming pool, a clubhouse with meeting rooms, restaurant, and Ballroom, a separate health club, lovely walking paths attached to an impressive golf course, sports courts, security, and more. How lucky we are! Another important Four Seasons benefit is a well-organized and inviting Library with a wide variety of reading materials and puzzles. We've, literally, got it all! When it comes to the Four Seasons Library, it's difficult to know what to highlight first. It's a cool, comfortable, inviting space with something for everyone. When I mention the library, I'm referring to the extension of the library, as well, into the computer room where our massive collection of puzzles resides. ere are always about 250 puzzles — 300 to 1,000 pieces — on display there. What you may not have heard is that we have about that many puzzles in storage waiting to be displayed during the appropriate season and holiday. Finally, there are about as many puzzles circulating out in the community. Residents LOVE puzzles! It's our privilege to have them for you. Donations of complete puzzles (all pieces per box) are welcomed all the time. Sometimes we have so many that we're able to donate older puzzles to other locations, like Valley Restart, our committee's newest donations site. Puzzles have a life span of about a year in our extensive collection before being removed. at way, you should always find different puzzles on display for your creative enjoyment. Our library is primarily dedicated to reading materials — books (hard and so covers) and magazines. We have audiobooks, too. Check labels on the shelves and cabinets for their contents. Just so you know, 2015 fiction hardcovers on the le wall are being gradually removed to make room for all those new 2025 books our residents are donating. e 2020 fiction paperbacks in the cabinet tops on the right wall are being removed, too, for newer donations. Please keep those donations coming. e various collections in the bookcases behind the couch are always growing, as well. Remember to consider biographies and nonfiction books for summer reading. Finally, thanks for keeping our magazine rack full. Enjoy the rest of your summer! ~ Betty Crase
