I hope this message finds you well and happy. First, I would like to say thank you very much to Norma, our General Manager, and Courtney, the owner of the publishing company for the magazine, for doing it as long as we could. We tried pulling tricks out of our hat. As mentioned in the August issue, this is the last Courier that will be mailed to you. We will be providing the Courier via a digital format, which will be published on Oct. 1 so start looking at the website, www. suncitycivic.com, for the Core Courier. We will have directions at the office on how to get to it. For those that do not have internet access, we will only print a few out with no advertisements at the office. I know I have said it before, but if you do not have your email registered at the office, please get down there and do it to get things emailed. Again, make sure and check the box that says you do not want it shared, that will get you onto the whole deal. In the meantime, if you need to know the schedule of things, please keep this Courier, as the schedule is pretty much set until January. This Courier has information, such as club contacts and meeting information as well as the SCCA events. Of course, by now, you saw the dueling pianos in August. We have nothing in September. October is our annual Halloween party with the dueling pianos that features the music of Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash. As of Oct. 1, get in touch with the office to reserve your spot. Admission is $10. In November, anyone who wants a Thanksgiving meal delivered can do so. We have 250 openings. On Nov. 1, call the office to give your names and address for delivery. Please keep in mind that this is for people that are homebound (they really like someone coming to the door to give them a meal and we love doing it). There are two things to keep in mind on Dec. 1. We are taking reservations for delivery of 250 Christmas dinners. The same applies for delivery as it did in November for Thanksgiving. Please make reservations if you would like to come to our sit -down dinner with traditional ham, turkey, and fix-in's. Ray and his band will play. The sit-down dinner was a big hit last year, and we are looking forward to it again this year. As we did last year, if you are getting a meal delivered, you may not come to the sit-down dinner, and if you attend the sit-down dinner, then you surely do not need a meal delivered. We will need volunteers for the dinner deliveries. If you're interested, please contact the office at 951-679-2311 (press zero). For anybody who wants to know about the golf course, the developer has gone dark with us, the city, and everyone. Because I want them to do the work, this is the way I'm going to word it. In the last few months, a major court case was finalized where an association had a golf course and the developer wanted to develop on it, but their governing documents stated differently. The association took the developer to court, and the association beat the pants off them. In fact, they beat the pants off them so bad that I wanted to buy them a pair of pants. The court ruled that governing documents take precedence over rezoning, which means we have the final say. I've mentioned this before — our authority is clear. We are among the best in California and the West Coast, as demonstrated by awards from our mentors and respected community leaders. There are things coming up soon to deal with involving the state. We will get through them, survive, and make people jealous of us. We will still issue messages from me and Norma and still be around. We are happy to answer your questions. Sun City Civic Association is very healthy with everything going smoothly and everyone having a lot of fun except for "watercise" class. They are getting too big and want the pools made bigger, and that is not happening so deal with it. Enough joking around! Seriously, thank you for reading and thanks to the clubs for submitting their articles. I hope to see you at events. Again, please do not call until the dates I put in here. Have a nice rest of the year. See you at events and around the campus. | SUN CITY CORE COURIER | SEPTEMBER 2025 | 3 Message from the President By Brian Holley, President of Sun City Civic Association
