66 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2025 We're continuing our summer session this September with "Divisional Play." The action in the pool at The Courts takes place on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am to 12 pm. Mondays and Fridays are designated for general play, welcoming participants of all skill levels. Wednesdays are scheduled for advanced play, which includes overhand serves only, as well as digs, sets, blocks, spikes, and more. With the reopening of the indoor pool at The Summit, Saturday's indoor games (10 am to 12 pm) are specifically for beginner play, where throw serves are permitted, but spiking and blocking are not. If you've ever thought about trying water volleyball but felt intimidated by the competition level, this is your chance to join in. The Summit pool is shallower than the one at The Courts, so come out and give it a try. In August, the club hosted a pizza party on the pool deck at The Courts, and everyone had a great time. A special thanks to club members who contributed desserts and finger foods for the event. On Friday, Sept. 19, the club will hold its annual "end-of-summer" pool party and tournament, coinciding with the Senior Oldylympics. Food and beverages will be provided by the club. If you'd like to participate, come out in early September to get some practice! Water volleyball is a fantastic way to get out of the house for some low-impact exercise. Everyone is welcome. You don't need to be a club member to play, and all ages, heights, and skill levels can join! So wake up early and start your day by joining our shuff leboard family in an outdoor activity while getting a little exercise and fresh air. Shuff leboard is an easy game to learn and almost anyone can quickly become proficient at this sport. Our games usually last a little more than an hour and we choose different teams each time we play. This allows us to keep the competition challenging and the games interesting. We play for fun, but, of course, everyone likes to win. We have no losers, only non-winners. We have a great group of players who play regularly, but we always welcome new players. If you're interested in joining an enjoyable activity with lots of friendly residents, just show up on a Monday and/or Saturday morning a little before 8 am. We will give you an introduction to the game if you have never played before, or a refresher if needed. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Otherwise, I hope to see you at the shuff leboard courts. ~ Marty Rotman, (310) 948-1693, mrtmj@aol.com Shuffleboard
