FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | SEPTEMBER 2025 61 Pickleball's Oldlympics competition is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 12. This is a free tournament for any resident of Four Seasons, so register early with Tournament Director David Martin at dcmartin@pacbell.net, as space may be limited depending on the response. There will be two divisions: ages 55-69 and over 70. This will be a rotating partners event for all skill levels, meaning a male or female partner will be randomly assigned to you from your age division. You will change partners each game and record your points for each game to tally a total score. The top three scorers in each age and gender division will receive awards from the HOA on Oct. 17. Check the posted f lyers and activity boards for more info, then register, and get in on the action! We celebrated summer with our fourth annual pool party, barbecue, and potluck. Grill chefs Barry Ginnetti and Bob Mendenhall kept the burgers and hot dogs coming, while Maggie Domico and Carol Ward got all the fixings prepared. Potluck picks were plentiful and tasty — Maggie's special beverage sure hit the spot — and the weather was perfect. Many took to the pool to relax and chat, while others sought shade to sit in and do the same. This year's pool party fell near the anniversary date of one of our members being successfully resuscitated from a cardiac event right there at the pickleball courts, before EMTs arrived, four years ago. (It wasn't just indigestion!) Gary, you just don't know how happy we all are to see you enjoying life and playing pickleball with us (even if that sneaky little serve of yours makes us run!) The Senior National Pickleball Tournament in Des Moines, IA, scores are all in. Congratulations to resident John Schafer and Steve Roa, formerly of Four Seasons, who claimed the silver medal in the 3.5 skill level for their age bracket! They played 18 tough games all in one 11-hour day. John also played mixed doubles there with Four Seasons' Sandra Terry, but, unfortunately, they were unable to progress out of the 36-team preliminaries in their 3.5 skill-level bracket. Maybe next time … Pickleball Club play time continues to be daily from 7 to 11 am. Nancy Hessin offers a fun and informative introduction to pickleball session each Saturday at 8:30 am for residents of Four Seasons who are interested in beginning to learn how to play. Just show up at the pickleball courts in comfy clothes and court shoes, bring water, and join the fun! ~ Gayle Wardenski, gmew@hotmail.com Pickleball Steve Roa (far le) and John Schafer (le) with Silver Grill masters Barry Ginnetti and Bob Mendenhall Pool Party!
