| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2025 | 9 As summer winds down and fall begins to approach, it's a great time to reect on how we maintain the integrity and experience of golf at Sun Lakes. roughout the season, I've observed a few recurring issues that we must address together to uphold the standards of our community. ese include dress code violations, improper golf cart usage, discourteous behavior, ignoring posted signage, and players accessing the course without checking in. While these may seem minor in isolation, they collectively impact the quality of play, the condition of our facilities, and the overall environment we all enjoy. Let's start with dress code. Our attire reects the respect we have for the game and for each other. Dressing in proper golf apparel sets a tone of professionalism and pride that elevates our club's reputation. is not only enhances the playing experience but also contributes to increased property values as our community attracts quality-minded individuals who appreciate and uphold high standards. Golf cart misuse is another concern. Our cart paths exist to protect the turf and playing surfaces. Please remember: on all Par 3 holes, carts must remain on the path for the entire hole. Even a single cart driven over delicate grass can compact the soil, impede root growth, and result in dead patches. Parking near greens or on so turf areas can also cause lasting damage, especially for groups playing behind you. By using cart paths appropriately, you help preserve course quality for everyone. Regarding sportsmanship, golf is a game of integrity. Emotions can run high during a tough round, but there is never a place for hostile language or gestures—toward your group, those ahead of you, or anyone else. If you feel the pace of play is too slow or there's an issue on the course, please call the Golf Shop at (951) 267-3920. Our sta is trained in handling these situations professionally and will respond promptly to assist. Checking in before play is a basic but essential step. We have seen a rise in players accessing the course — especially aer hours — without registering. If you're playing outside regular hours, make sure you sign the aer-hours sheet at the Golf Shop, call to notify sta, or have a golf professional add you to the tee sheet. Unauthorized play may result in nes or course fees. We are actively monitoring both courses, including evenings, to ensure fairness and accountability. Finally, safety is everyone's responsibility. Whether you're walking, driving, or golng, always be aware of your surroundings. Speeding cars, missed stop signs, and distracted drivers can lead to accidents—even in a community as safe and friendly as ours. Stay alert, drive cautiously, and respect crosswalks and signage to help keep Sun Lakes a secure and enjoyable place for all. We are privileged to live and play in one of the most beautiful communities in California. Let's each do our part to honor the game, respect each other, and protect this incredible place we call home. ~ David A. Goldstein II PGA, Director of Golf From the Pro Shop
