It was a pleasure for the Marketing Advisory Committee to recognize Jose Contreras, our monitor, as Employee of the Month for June. We acknowledged Jose during the July Master Board Open Session. Jose has been at Sun Lakes for over 20 years. He genuinely cares about his work and always puts forth his best effort. Whenever there's a need to cover, we can always rely on Jose to step in. Additionally, Jose is an excellent team player and often helps his colleagues when needed. You can always count on him. There's much more to say about Jose, and I know many residents who know him well and could share stories of how he has gone out of his way to assist them. We received many kind remarks from residents. My two favorite comments are, "he's always so helpful, friendly, and cheerful and makes sure everything is done properly," and "he always has a smile and he's so positive and goes beyond to take care of whatever you need." Therefore, the Marketing Committee was proud to congratulate Jose on being June's Employee of the Month for his outstanding performance. Jose is more than deserving of this recognition and the Visa gift card. Remember, you can nominate any employee at Sun Lakes for Employee of the Month. You may nominate monitors, maintenance staff, Pro Shop staff, or Food and Beverage staff. Forms are available at the Main Clubhouse, Lounge, Restaurant, Sandwedge, and Pro Shop for residents to recognize employees for their exceptional service. ~ Michele Walter, Marketing Committee Chairperson, (951) 202-8009 10 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2025 | Sun Lakes Committee Reports Marketing Advisory REAL ESTATE STATS JULY 1 TO 24: Active or coming soon: 56 • 8 Condos: $299,000 to $365,000 • 48 Homes: $329,000 to $554,000 In Escrow: 25 • 6 Condos: $299,000 to $339,000 • 19 Homes: $334,900 to $499,000 Closed escrow: 14 • 12 Homes: $325,000 to $600,000 • 2 Condos: $330,000 to $342,500 Our real estate brochure has been completed and approved by the Master Board. The summer/fall months have brought increased activity in Sun Lakes and along with this comes increased risks. We are experiencing more guest visits, traffic, and deliveries throughout our community. Unfortunately, this also tends to attract uninvited guests. Securitas continues to patrol regularly and enforce access policies and we as residents can support these efforts by NOT propping open pedestrian gates and making sure all guests are properly registered with the main gate. Property damage and theft tend to increase during these months, so we ask all residents to remain vigilant. Be aware of your surroundings, report suspicious activity immediately, and be sure your vehicles and homes are locked and secured when unattended. Mike Romero, our Director of Security, has updated the Sun Lakes Fire Evacuation Policy and Procedure guidelines to be coordinated with Securitas and EPAP. The Wolf fire in June was close to Sun Lakes and much of our community received a level 2 evacuation alert. There were no evacuations ordered but it reminds us all that we must be prepared if that ever happens. Safety Advisory Elements of the updated report include: 1. Activation of Emergency Protocol 2. Gate Operations and Access Control 3. Resident Notification 4. Ongoing Coordination and Site Management 5. Recovery and Return Protocol Additional Recommendations are: 1. Training and Drills – to improve response readiness 2. Gate Power Backup – in the event of a power outage 3. Evacuation Maps – made available to all residents 4. Emergency Kits – a "ready-to-go bag" for residents with essentials, medications, and documents 5. Vulnerable Resident Registry – an up-to-date list of residents with mobility and medical needs who require assistance. None of us want an emergency, but we all must be PREPARED! Remember: • Keep your garage doors closed • Keep your dogs on a leash • Drive defensively • Obey traffic signs and speed limits • STOP AT ALL STOP SIGNS ~ Michael Volz, (818) 310-1950, vmv1950@aol.com
