14 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2025 | As the hot days of August come to an end, and although summer isn't quite over yet, I look forward to the cooler breezes, crisper air, and the last part of what has been a very long, hot season. When fall finally arrives, kicking summer out as it always does sometime after mid-September, we await autumn — the one season that seems to exist just for its beauty. Fall, with nature's incredible color palette painting trees in bright red, rust, and gold, reminds us how beautiful it is to let go. We always try to highlight local and national special event days. This month, there are too many to list, but a few highlights include: Sept. 2: Labor Day. (Remember, we are closed this day.) Wed., Sept. 3: Celebrity Chef Demo. Chef Tila will be at Sun Lakes! It's a fantastic opportunity to meet him, watch him perform, learn, and dine. Fri., Sept. 5: National Beer Lovers Day. Why not try a flight and pick your favorite? Wine flights are also available. Sun., Sept. 7: Grandparents Day. Treat yourself to one of Angels' September cocktails. Italian Libations include Prosecco with lime over ice, or for the adventurous, a zany Cosmopolitan or even a Pickle Martini. Thurs., Sept. 11: Patriot Day. Some observe it as Remembrance Day or Never Forget Day — people toast with a special cocktail, usually a Manhattan or a Big Appletini, to honor those who lost their lives. Sept. 9 - 14: Golf enthusiasts won't want to miss the BMW PGA Championship in Surrey, England. Enjoy a Surrey Slider Cocktail served at the Wentworth Club, or stick with an Arnold Palmer. Sun., Sept. 7: If golf isn't your sport but tennis is, then the 2025 Grand Slam Final starts in August and runs through Sept. 7. Watch with friends and neighbors, follow your favorite players on big screens, and stay cool at the Sandwedge — it's the place to be for all these sporting events. Please check the calendar on our SLCC website, tune in to channel 97, and keep an eye on this magazine and your home calendars. I am proud that CCL Hospitality Group is part of our community and hope you're enjoying all the wonderful changes they've brought about. If you haven't already, be sure to welcome Chef Lola to our SLCC Family. Returning by popular demand, enjoy prime rib every Thursday paired with a perfect Cabernet. Remember, all SLCC amenities depend on our members supporting our amenities. If you haven't already, come out for a meal, cocktails, or "Happy Hour." Enjoy fun music on Friday and Saturday nights. If each resident visited our Restaurant, Sandwedge, or Lounge just once a month, it would make a huge difference to our bottom line. It's a simple matter of using it or losing it. Also, on Sundays, our chef offers a different special each week at the Sandwedge. Please call to make reservations at (951) 769 6654. We're working to improve our reservation system, and it will get better. Thank you all for your calls, emails, and comments. Believe it or not, I don't have all the answers! Please share your concerns and compliments via the Message to Management box at the front reception desk, on the Sun Lakes website, or try the kiosks in the Sandwedge and Lounge — don't worry, they're very easy to use. Until next month: Don't just count the days; make the days count. Surround yourself with love, laughter, good friends, and family, and enjoy peace in your heart. ~ Carole Elliott Restaurant & Lounge Advisory
