| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2025 | 59 The Sun Lakes Tennis Club sponsors monthly activities and events, each one arranged and implemented by the members of our Executive Board. Thanks to our Board members (Sally Jo Schwartz, Kim Jensen, Michele Walter, and David Nethercott) for their consistent and effective leadership. There are other activities that take place because of informal arrangements by Club members and their friends, sometimes including players from outside our community. For example, there is a men's doubles group that plays Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Also, there are several groups of women who play doubles on a regular basis. Further, a group open to both men and women meets four mornings each week, often playing on two courts. Finally, there is a Tuesday morning Drop-In with both men and women taking part. These informally organized groups are open to new players. Substitutes are often needed. New team members are needed from time to time. All in all, the needs and aspirations of tennis lovers are fulfilled through both formal and informal events and activities. Tennis Joy Bailey, Janet Stoler, Lori Hazelton, and Mary Wilkie Kim Jensen, Wendy Seirup, Chikako Fergusen, and CJ (Claudia) Davis Carol Ellis, Nancy Randel, JR (John) Randel, Carl Miller, and Lise Riehle POP Tennis POP Tennis, formerly known as Paddle Tennis, is a fun, fast sport that can be enjoyed by people at all fitness levels. Though played on a smaller court, with a different paddle, and 20 percent deflated tennis balls, POP Tennis is otherwise scored and regulated like traditional tennis. POP Tennis is played on the courts to the left of the Main Clubhouse usually on Thursday mornings from 8 to 10 am (fall/winter hours). Additionally, there is a group that plays Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday afternoons from 3 to 5 pm. People are free to come and go as their schedules permit. Hours are subject to change, so it is best to check the bulletin board located at the courts for current play times. All are welcome and there are always friendly folks to teach beginners the game! Paddles and balls are provided too. For more information or to express a desire to be on a decision-making committee, contact Carl Miller at (951) 512-3131 Hope you'll POP in!
