| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2025 | 47 September, really? It does feel a little slower, softer, like a breathing space between an active, busy summer and the even busier time of fall followed by an even busier holiday season. September may be a breathing space, but it's definitely not without things to do in the yard or garden. It's time to clear out the vegetable garden, fertilize the lawn and citrus trees, or maybe even prep for a winter garden. You won't want to miss our Sept. 10 meeting; Pat Pennington, our Garden of Eat- em guy, always offers timely tips and info on what is important to do. Our guest speaker for this month, Master Gardener Sharon Yocum, will talk about garden pollinators. Almost everyone's first thought when it comes to pollinators is the bees, of course, but it's surprising the number and variety of critters that help us with our gardening efforts by distributing pollen. Curious about what the Garden Club does? You might enjoy attending one of our meetings as our guest. Meetings are on the second Wednesday of each month at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. We have a knowledgeable speaker every month on a variety of topics, not just gardening but almost always related to gardening in some way. In fact, in October, we will have Barbara Toyama here to show us how to press f lowers and herbs for use as decorations for various purposes. Many of our members don't garden at all; they just enjoy the informative and interesting presentations, as well as the social activity during our "Hospitality" segment with Bob-the-Baker treats and coffee. We also support many charitable organizations such as the Banning Senior Center and the H.E.L.P. Center organization in Banning. If you have membership questions, call one of our membership Co- chairs: Linda Powers at (562)400- 0541 or Sherry Case at (951) 533-3584. Our President, Beverly Agner, at (951) 306-7379, is always ready to answer your questions. Pat Pennington at (951) 314-9229 loves to talk about vegetable gardening and is also happy to answer questions on that topic. And if you have fruit trees that need harvesting, contact Joy Bailey at (951) 845-5540. The produce will go to local charities. Garden Club
