66 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | SEPTEMBER 2025 | Billiards There are some exciting things happening inside the Sun Lakes Billiards Room. Early this summer, the billiards tables were recovered with a new, light grey cloth and the chairs were reupholstered. Some of the equipment received a refresh as well, creating an overall pleasant aesthetic for the billiard players' enjoyment. Also, featured over the summer was a 9-Ball league for individual players to showcase their skill playing 9-Ball. This league was hosted by Tony Samero with the assistance of Duane Vieira and John Mursa. Tony ensured that the scheduling and statistics were provided for the players over the nine-week league season. It was a fun vibe of music, competition and camaraderie over the summer months. The top 12 players played for the top spot, Most Valuable Player and there was also a winner for each level of play. Stay tuned for the winners to be posted next month. Overall, there were 29 players from Sun Lakes and Four Seasons who competed. In late July, there was a change of facilitators for the 8-Ball Group at Sun Lakes. The new facilitators are Pat and Michelle Carter. They assisted the 8-Ball Group captains as they got ready for the start of the next 8-Ball season in late August. The 8-Ball league is a team event normally with eight captains and six to seven players per team. The competition is fierce over the several months leading up to the finals played in December. For the first time, there will also be a 9-Ball league continuing at the same time as the 8 Ball league but played on different days. For those who want to play billiards but are not interested in playing in a league environment, there is open play Monday through Friday, 12 to 2 pm. Play starts promptly at 12 pm when players are paired up with a partner for the two hours of play. Any Sun Laker who is interested in playing either 8- or 9-Ball please contact Pat or Michelle Carter at VCC53SLCC@outlook.com or (909) 938-2325. We have a team of experienced players that will evaluate new players so that you will play at your current skill level and all players are welcome.
