Lady Lead Singers: When you think of
ladies of song who achieved superstar fame,
you would discover in the music history
books, that many well-known female lead
singers fronted big band orchestras. Some
names that come to mind are Margaret
Whiting, Helen Forrest, Ella Fitzgerald,
Ella Mae Morse and even Doris Day. As
time passed the female lead singer of pop
and rock bands became a sound unto
itself. ere has never been near as many
female lead singers in bands as compared
to male lead singers but the ladies of song
denitely hold their own place in the world
