| LIFE IN SOLERA | SEPTEMBER 2025 | 31 Over the last few months we've talked about the process of plastic recycling and aluminum recycling. What's next? How about the Sunshine Club process! Our volunteers open every bag and sort them rst into aluminum cans vs. plastics by placing them in large trash cans lined with big black trash bags. Plastics are further sorted into water bottles vs. other types based on a code found on the bottom. During this process, all trash is removed and bottles are emptied. All of the big black bags are tied o and loaded into a truck for a trip to the recycling center! Sounds simple enough but it can be pretty labor intensive and very messy when dealing with cans that still contain varying levels of liquid. We've talked about all these before but here are some things to keep in mind. SUNSHINE CLUB RULES OF RECYCLING • No glass … it's too dangerous • Tie bags securely • CA-CRV or CA CASH REFUND should appear on the container • Do not remove labels • No trash • Remove all liquids • Rinse containers A huge THANK YOU to everyone who takes part in the recycling process for the Sunshine Club! If you have any questions about our club or activities, feel free to ask one of our members or contact Diane Coman at (949) 295-1097. Our next meeting will be on the third Wednesday of September at 1 pm in the Arts & Cras Room. Please consider joining us! SUNSHINE CLUB Sunshine Helpers Needed! Chronic illnesses, hospitalization, and/or death can hit people hard. If you have a friend or neighbor here in Solera who needs a spark of sunshine, let members of the Sunshine Club know. For your convenience, the yellow Sunshine Box is located on the table in the Mail Room where you can drop off the information for a resident or residents who are sick or have experienced a death in the family. Sometimes just a card or telephone call will brighten someone's day immensely.
