Racquet Club The new spin on morning pickleball: Challenge Courts are here! Drop-in has always been the heartbeat of OHCC pickleball — grab your paddle, swing by the courts when the mood strikes, play to your heart's content, then head off with that post-game glow. No sign-ups. No stress. Just pure pickleball joy. But let's face it — some of our top-tier players started craving more consistent, competitive match-ups. So, to turn up the heat and reignite the morning magic, the Pickleball Committee shook things up. Courts 1–3 now host Challenge Court action on Thursday and Sunday mornings – where our fastest, fiercest, and most agile players battle it out in high-energy, fast-paced play. It's become the place for top-level competition, drawing 30+ players each session! Even if you're not playing, come by and watch – the level of play is seriously impressive and always entertaining. Thanks to Lisa Moon, Craig Cameron, and David Levine for making it all happen! Regular advanced drop-in continues the rest of the week. Summer Chill 3: Concert or Dance Party? Answer: Yes! On a warm July Sunday night, Summit Drive rocked the house – or rather, the Lanai and Palm Court — at our Summer Chill 3 concert! From the private-party vibe of the Backstage Party Zone and the pre-show mixer with the band, to the all-new seating layout that encouraged mingling, moving, and major grooving, it was a night to remember. Kudos to Bob James for the creative vision and to concert planner Karena Abrams (plus her fabulous team of volunteers) for pulling it off with style, smiles, and seamless coordination. Tired feet + happy faces = a night well spent! End-of-summer fun for Racquet Club members! The summer sizzle isn't over yet. Check out these can't-miss events: Labor Day Team Tennis Tournament, Mixer & Potluck: Get ready to rally and feast at the Terrace Courts. Great tennis, even better company! This is a fun three-day tournament that requires every throw including the pallino throw has to hit a side rail (wall). October Banking Tournament sounded weird, so we needed a catchy title. With a play on words from wallbanger to wallbanking and we had the "Harvey Wallbanker Tournament." When confirming 70s was the right time period, we knew when we read this about the origins of the drink we had a winner: "While the exact origin is debated, a popular story suggests the name comes from a California surfer named Tom Harvey." Legend has it that after imbibing a few too many of these Galliano-spiked screwdrivers, he would lose his balance and "bang" into walls, earning him the nickname "Harvey Wallbanger" With banking classes in September you'll have a head start for this great Tournament.
