| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2025 | 3 From the Master Board Fall is upon us and it's a relief to know the summer heat is behind us and we can expect cooler temps … where hopefully we don't need to run either the air conditioner or the heater! In October, the holiday is at the end of the month, but the stores have been loaded with Halloween decorations since August. Home Depot does everything in a big way, including those gigantic and frightful monsters right near the front door! Are those necessary? Let's look forward to the doggie costume contest for Halloween which is so cute and fun. Be sure to follow the guidelines for putting up and taking down front yard decorations. The Board is hard at work on the 2026 budget, collaborating with FirstService to ensure our community is well-maintained, services improve, and monthly dues are kept reasonable. This process now also involves collaboration with CCL, our hospitality and dining management company. This is the first budget year to involve two companies with whom we must coordinate financials and blend those into one monthly dues amount for residents. The Board has renegotiated the contract with CCL to ensure that our financial position is protected starting Oct. 1, 2025 and going forward. CCL has committed to reinstating the house accounts before the end of the year, pending resolution of technology issues related to our membership cards. When this begins, the new membership cards can be used in both Pro Shops and with Recreation to purchase tickets for events. The Board has also approved an investment in technology to initiate online and mobile ordering of to-go menu items from the restaurants. The Board spent most of September reviewing proposals for management. Several companies came on-site for a tour of the facilities and golf courses. The month of October will be spent negotiating contract terms with the lucky company selected to manage Sun Lakes into a bright future. The clock for the tower will arrive this month and construction for the brick platform continues. Targeted opening is before Christmas, if possible even Thanksgiving!
