62 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | OCTOBER 2025 | Games People Play Mondays are considered "fun days" by the members of our group. You are invited to join in for the games, music and the camaraderie between new and old friends. We have five games that are played simultaneously: you have a choice of Scrabble, Phase 10, Chess, Bid Whist or Dominoes. All skill levels are welcome. There are no fees or dues; however, donations are welcomed and appreciated. We meet Mondays at the North Clubhouse from 6 to 9:30 pm. For more info, please contact Virginia Green at (951) 255-1545 or Cynthia White- Piper at (951) 906-7510. Mexican Train The schedule for Mexican Train has been adjusted to try to accommodate the bigger group. Please refer to this article for monthly locations. For the month of October we will meet in the following locations: Oct. 13 in the Bus Room; Oct. 8 and Oct. 15 in the North Clubhouse Multipurpose Room; Oct. 22 and 29 in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Please arrive between 12:45 and 12:50 pm so we can organize tables for balanced play. Ideally, we would like to have only five to six people at a table. The group is getting bigger, so if you have domino trays consider bringing them. If you would like a copy of the version played at Sun Lakes, send your request to cjdavis2504@gmail.com and one will be sent to you. For further info, call Paulie at (951) 550-2107. Pinochle Club We meet Tuesdays and Fridays from 8:30 am to 12 pm in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. We play double deck pinochle in tables of four and five. Winners move to another table so we get to socialize with many members. You can come late or leave early, no problem. We welcome new members, so if it has been a while since you have played or you're a beginner, we will be happy to teach you the game or refresh your skills. For more info, call Patty Michalec, President, at (530) 520-4127. Billiards A poolside BBQ next to the Main Clubhouse marked the end of summer for the 9-Ball League and the start of the 8 Ball Group League. Players along with their spouses or guests attended the event, which featured traditional hamburgers, hot dogs, and all the delicious side dishes and desserts. Once everyone had enjoyed the food, awards were given to the winners of the 9-Ball Season: Level 6-7 Champion was Joe Spinella of Four Seasons (above left); Level 4-5 Champion was Tony Seda of Sun Lakes (above center); and Level 3 Champion was Michelle Carter of Sun Lakes (above right). Joe Spinella also received the MVP award for Level 6-7; Ed Lin was MVP for Level 4-5; and Sophia Lin was MVP for Level 3. Congratulations to all who participated in the 9-Ball League and helped make this a memorable summer. The 8 Ball Group League is now in full swing this fall, with each of the eight teams of seven members competing every Thursday. The Billiards Room is busiest on match days, as players compete to earn points for their teams. Plans are already underway for the end-of- season party to recognize the top teams of Fall 2025. If you'd like to play billiards and meet some of these wonderful people, social play is available Monday through Friday from 12 to 2 pm. Players are partnered promptly at 12 pm. They play matches with their partner against other teams, rotating against new teams as they win and lose. It's a fun, lively group with music, conversation, and lots of encouragement. Please contact Pat or Michelle Carter if you have any questions about play or the league at VCC53SLCC@ outlook.com or (909) 938-2325.
