Bingo Advisory The four libraries in Sun Lakes include collections of hardbacks and paperbacks in the Main Clubhouse, as well as a mix of both in the North and South Clubhouses. Puzzles are now available in three clubhouses. There is no formal check-in and check-out system; however, you may return books and puzzles within a reasonable timeframe. Books and puzzles can be returned to any library since they are no longer stamped to a specific location. The book selections in all three clubhouses feature mystery, romance, westerns, general fiction, large print, and titles focused on inspiration and wellness. Audiobooks are available only in the Main Clubhouse paperback library. Classic and non-fiction titles, including biographies, military, and sports books, are exclusively found in the North Clubhouse. If you belong to a book club, please inform us by contacting John Hasha, Chairman, at hashajohn@gmail.com. We are compiling a list of book clubs here at Sun Lakes. If you have movie DVDs that you no longer watch, you can donate them by calling Laurel Stanley at (585) 378-0803. If you are interested in volunteering at the library, contact Laurel Stanley at (585) 378-0803 or lvstanley@gmail.com. While golf carts are a common and convenient method of transportation in our community, they are not exempt from basic traffic laws and safety expectations. Please remember: • All stop signs and right-of-way rules apply to golf carts • Pedestrians always have the right of way • Carts should not exceed safe speeds, particularly in high- pedestrian zones or near intersections • Distracted driving in golf carts is equally as dangerous as in full-sized vehicle Full-sized vehicles have the right of way at golf cart crossings. There have been many close calls at these crossings, so golfers, please pay attention and stop before crossing a street on the way to your next hole. Reinforcing these guidelines with visiting friends and family is encouraged. Increased Trespass Attempts & Proactive Security Response Security has noted an increase in attempted trespass incidents this month, with several individuals attempting to gain unauthorized access to the community. In each case, Securitas responded immediately, intercepting and removing these individuals before they were able to set foot inside Sun Lakes. They were told they were not permitted on the premises, and their information was documented for future reference. It was determined that unsecured or resident-propped pedestrian gates remain the primary points of entry for these attempts. By increasing our surveillance and actively monitoring all access points through CCTV, Securitas has successfully identified, intercepted, and apprehended trespassers before they could pose a risk to residents or property. Residents are reminded to ensure that all pedestrian gates remain fully closed and locked after use, as even a short lapse in securing these entry points creates an opportunity for unauthorized individuals to enter the community. Trash Cans For those of you who have a sidewalk in front of your home, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE put your trash cans in the STREET, close to your driveway on trash day. There is a safety hazard for walkers and joggers when trash cans block the sidewalks. As always: • Keep your garage doors closed • Keep your dogs on a leash • Obey speed limits, and • Stop at all stop signs • Drive defensively, we are in a 55+ community! ~ Michael Volz, (818) 310-1950, vmv1950@aol.com Safety Advisory
