When to stop RVing
Seeing the beauty this world has to offer by traveling in the privacy
and comforts of your home on wheels is a wonderful experience. No
need to pack or unpack or to drive 60 miles or more to find a rest stop,
only to discover it is closed. But how do you decide when the time
has come to hang up the key and sell your motor home or trailer?
Here are a few things to consider that may help you in making that
decision.
Loss of a spouse: This may be the number one reason people give
up the lifestyle.
Health reasons: You or your spouse have serious health issues that
won't allow you to travel any longer.
Maintenance issues: You find it too difficult or dangerous
(think roof repairs)) to wash and polish or address other routine
maintenance duties.
Repairs: Maybe the list of little repairs is starting to overwhelm
your ability to address them.
Financial costs: In addition to fuel costs, other considerations
may include storage rent, license and registration fees, insurance and
maintenance expenses as well as other incidental costs that may put
a strain on your household budget, even if your rig is paid for.
Re-connect with the neighborhood: Long trips can force you to
somewhat disconnect with family, neighbors and friends. You may
decide the meandering lifestyle is not for you after all.
In conclusion, selling your RV may close a chapter in your life, but
it doesn't end it. Your book of life will still have more stories between
the covers. ~ Bob Hoecker
