August and September were busy months with visitors and vacations. Our vegetable contest ended, and we haven't started another one. The month featured a fun popsicle demonstration by two of our members, including samples that were ice cold and delicious. Everyone went home with recipes for healthy popsicles and a set of plastic molds to make their own. Great job, ladies! Later, we did some support and team-building exercises called Dicebreakers. Each person rolled the die, and each number prompted a question to answer and share with the group. For example, if you could change your name, what would it be? Why? Or if you were a millionaire, how would you spend your money? What's the most exciting adventure you've ever had? Or what's the weirdest food you've ever eaten? And so on. We learned a lot about each other and had many laughs. You might find that a group like TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) can help you too. We meet on Tuesdays at 8:30 am in the Ballroom. We will also have a vehicle in the annual Beaumont Veterans Day parade in November. The Veterans Tile Tribute still has a few open spaces for additions. Veterans who want a tile placed there must attend a club meeting to fill out a form and pay for the tile. New tiles will be added on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 16, 2026. Our chapter meets monthly on the fourth Thursday at 10 am in the Game Room. ~ Len Tavernetti, ltavernetti@ hotmail.com FS Veterans Club The monthly meeting is on Thursday, Oct. 16. Doors open at 5:15 pm, and the meeting begins at 6 pm. You know the drill, bring a bottle of wine, two glasses, and something to share with your table. This month's featured selections include a white port and a red port wine. Barry Ginnetti will give an informative presentation on port wines, highlighting their key differences from dessert wines. Pet Haven will provide information about animal shelters and how they operate. Did you adopt an animal from Pet Haven? If so, please send a picture along with the animal's name and your name. Steve Schwinn will be performing Mountain Trail Music for us this evening. This selection is expected to complement the wine offerings exceptionally well. If you'd like to present your four favorite wines or another interesting topic at a future meeting, please get in touch with me. ~ Tom DePaola, tomdepaola@roadrunner.com, (714) 404-1956 Taste d'Vine
