In early September, we finished our study of 1 Samuel. The study
of 2 Samuel will take us into mid-October, after which we will start
exploring 1 and 2 Kings. We've learned a lot about the history of the
Hebrew people, their leadership, and the many wars they endured.
I wonder if we could ask anyone who lived back then whether they
still would have insisted on having a king. Originally, God was their
king. However, the people wanted to be like the neighboring nations
— all of which had kings. So, out of His great love and grace, God
gave them a king: Saul. We learned that Saul was a mighty warrior,
but eventually he stopped involving God in his decisions for the
people, which angered and displeased God. God then sent Samuel
the prophet to Jesse in Bethlehem to find the next king. Jesse's
youngest son, David, was anointed king by the prophet Samuel,
and Saul knew it, which led him to hunt David in an attempt to kill
him throughout most of 1 Samuel. Finally, as we began studying 2
Samuel, David becomes the beloved king of Israel.

As a new group here at Four Seasons, The Gathering is growing
rapidly. People come to share in faith and fellowship. Our time
together consists of singing, prayer, hearing from God's word,
sharing, and refreshments. At our last meeting we heard how God
has been faithful and trustworthy in the life of Kathie Sundstrom
as she shared her life story. We all enjoyed a special duet by Cindy
and Pete Connor who sang The Goodness of God. We meet at The
Courts on the last Sunday of the month at 6 pm. Please join us for
a unique experience as neighbors in this community, from all faith
backgrounds, come together to be enriched and encouraged by
God's goodness.
