| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | OCTOBER 2025 | 29 e Halloween Golf Cart Parade will be held on Oct. 31, Halloween Day, at 6:30 pm with pre-parade line-up and social time starting at 6 pm. e parade is a big hit with the community — some of the cart AND driver costumes are amazing. Lots of people come for a preview of the golf cart/driver decorations. e parade will take about 45 minutes. Whether you participate in the parade or cheer them along as they drive by your house, we all will enjoy a bit of scary Americana. Flag Angels: e Flag Angels have also been remarkably busy over the last two months. ey posted ags ve times: at the end of May for Memorial Day, May 26 (throughout the community); Flag Day, June 14 (just Four Seasons and World Cup); Juneteenth, 19 (throughout the community); July 4 (throughout the community), and Labor Day, Sept. 1. at is a lot of ags (about 6,600 up and 5,998 down)! About two years ago I started to highlight each of the "Flag Angels" in the Herald. I also pointed out a common characteristic that all Angels seem to share: the level of involvement in the community and enthusiasm to help provide community activities. ese activities are only possible because of the residents' involvement. e Flag Angels are a perfect illustration of this phenomenon. ey put up and take down a staggering 13,000 ags throughout the year. is month's Angels are Mary and Bill Swinney. ey have been Angels for three years placing ags in front of 130 homes. ey bought their home in 2008 and moved in permanently in 2014 aer they retired. ey moved from Anaheim Hills. Mary is always volunteering. She is involved with Team Sunshine and Late Bloomers Club and served as the chair for several years of the especially important Social Committee. Bill is one of the Four Seasons best golfers and volunteers on the Four Seasons Golf Club Board. e Flag Angels ranks are constantly changing. We have lost a number of angels. I have been able to replace those angels because substitutes volunteered to take a route full time (Brice and Denise Sunderland for example). If anyone is interested in being a Flag Angel, I could still use a volunteer or two as substitutes. is month Brice and Denise Sunderland pitched in and took a route for which they had previously substituted on several occasions and then volunteered to permanently take it over! ey stepped up without an ask from me-they just did it! If you would be willing to help provide this very popular service, please call me at (951) 973- 4149, or email me at mikemcla43@aol.com.
